ARTIST STATEMENT:
The use of many different materials emphasizes the basic tenet that any personal creative expression is art. Although clay and paint are very different mediums, there are similarities that exist between the two of them.
With the ability to easily manipulate clay, one can easily try out positions, sizes, and the "over all" balance of a sculpture, it affords the artist a great deal of flexibility in order to achieve the finished piece.
Watercolor is a very flexible medium also. There are many techniques that can be used where the water and paint respond in the most surprising, unexpected ways. Yet the artist can still create the painting that was intended.
